                                    Changing Times

Over the years our organisation has changed to reflect changing lifestyles and requirements of members. We now have two main activities, the summer lunch and the newsletter.

The summer lunch, a delicious meal with much chatter and laughter is thoroughly enjoyed by all who attend. It includes an extremely brief AGM.

Last year 1600 copies of the newsletter were distributed to members all round the world. We endeavour to minimise our costs, but last year printing and postage cost over £700.

Most of our income is derived from new members’ subscriptions, and in the past a steady flow of new members enabled us to build a good financial reserve. However, recently we have witnessed a decline in the number of school leavers joining the association. As a result we are having to use some of our reserves to fund the newsletter. The situation is not critical, but it is not comfortable.

Committee meetings have addressed the situation many times, but no solution has emerged so far.

We need your help. What does membership of The Old Croydonians mean to you? What do YOU think we should be doing? Some of you must have an opinion or suggestion. Please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.
